Abstract
This Protocol is updated in 2005 and has been prepared by the Department of Health with the participation of more than 180 professionals and with the support of the Catalan Association of Lifters and the Catalan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The new Protocol, which responds to one of the goals of the 2016-2020 Health Plan in relation to the promotion of health in the maternal stage, wants to outsource pregnancy care as much as possible and offer preventative activities at the same time and the most suitable health promotion in each moment. Mainly, the new Protocol addresses pregnancies that are regarded as normal, which are the majority in Catalonia, but at the same time incorporates appropriate recommendations for all the levels of risk that may occur. The document details a much more scheduled calendar of visits and performances to be carried out and the first visit is made before the first 10 weeks of gestation, which until now was done before 12 weeks.
