Abstract
Since the Health and Quality Assessment Agency of Catalonia (AQuAS), several tools have been developed to facilitate decision making in the clinical and welfare field and the planning in relation to hip and knee arthroplasties.
In the Nordic countries, such as Sweden, Norway, Denmark and in the United Kingdom, there have long been records of population arthroplasties that allow monitoring and evaluation of the quality of care centers that perform this type of complex surgical procedures in the short, medium and long term . A series of outcome indicators are collected that measure the clinical effectiveness such as the survival of the implants after surgery, in addition to the safety of the intervention such as adverse events at 90 days of discharge or complications derived from arthroplasty Other results are also found that measure patient-centered attention and overall effectiveness based on health outcomes perceived by patients (satisfaction with the care received or the perception of less pain and gain in quality of life related to health after the intervention).
