Organització i funcionament de la cirurgia major ambulatòria a Catalunya: resultats del projecte europeu DAYSAFE
Abstract
Outpatient surgery (CMA) has shown that it reduces nosocomial infections and other complications derived from the surgery, as well as recovery time. The CMA has also shown that it reduces hospital costs since it does not require, by definition, hospital admission or bedtime consumption by patients. Thus, in 1995, the founding members of the International Association for Ambulatory Surgery defined the CMA as "... a surgical or diagnostic intervention, currently performed with conventional hospitalization, which could, in most cases, be carried out with total Confidence without a night of hospitalization [...]. Modern CMA is not just a reduced hospital stay or architectural model. Rather, it includes a complex concept that takes into account institutional, organizational, medical, economic and qualitative aspects. "
