Impacte dels centres d’atenció ambulatòria en el seguiment de pacients amb síndrome d’apnea-hipopnea del son
Abstract
Introduction: The technical maintenance on the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) based on domiciliary revisions is a problem both in terms of volume of patients affected and
in terms of the difficulty to follow active patients.
Objectives: To analyse the accessibility and the quality of attention given at the day care centres; To describe patterns of following-up of patients for each supplier of services; To assess the level of satisfaction of patients; To evaluate the acceptance of new technologies of communication.
Methodology: The methodology is based on a general descriptive analysis of day care centres of Catalonia. In addition, a questionnaire was carried out to the users in order to assess their level of
satisfaction. Statistical analysis was done using a univariate (mean (SD) or median (interquartile range) in the case of numeric variables and percentages in the case of qualitative and secondly there was a bivariate related variables to determine the degree of satisfaction (chi square or Student t). 5% level of significance. became a multiple logistic regression model to determine the relationship between satisfaction and place of residence. Previously a study of the possible interaction and confounding factors (age, gender etc ...) was made.
Results: The main results are: 1,165 surveys. 79.1% men, 63.7% are over 55 years old, 49% are
pensioners and 64% spent more than a year with treatment. 40% of users live in a different town from the day care centre (71.3% within 30 minutes). The most common visit causes are: preventative maintenance of equipment (39.9%), the arrangement for periodic review (32.85%) and the change of device (20.95%). Evaluations of the accessibility of the day care centres are very positive (call attention, location and opening hours have a median of 9; standby time’s median is 10). The average satisfaction from the previous current model is 7.51 (with a median of 8). Living in a different population negatively influences the level of satisfaction (p = 0.024).
Conclusions: The main conclusion drawn from this report is that the degree of satisfaction with day care centres is very high. Day care centres should be approached to the scattered populations
(one possibility would be using mobile health points).
