Abstract
The aim of this paper is to describe the main results from notifiable disease surveillance in Catalonia during 2016 in table and text format, after validation of cases reported by health professionals in Catalonia. Incidence rates recorded for all notifiable diseases are presented. Incidence rate results are compared with incidence results during the five previous years and evaluated. The most remarkable features of these diseases are shown. In 2016 the most outstanding results were the increase in the incidence of mumps, representing a twofold increase compared to 2015; the slight rise in hepatitis A as a result of an outbreak onset in the group of homosexuals in the last quarter and the
remarkable decrease in the incidence of pertussis, which declined from a rate of 49.2 per 100,000 population in 2015 to 26.3 in 2016. Regarding STDs behaviour, a growing trend of gonococcal infection continued in 2016, while syphilis incidence increased in incidence
but at softer pace.
