Background: Arboviral infections transmitted by Aedes albopictus poses a major risk for public health due to the presence and dissemination of the vector in Catalonia. The objective of this work is to describe the results of the implementation of the Protocol for the surveillance and control of arboviral infections transmitted by mosquitoes in Catalonia. Methods: Retrospective study of the arboviral diseases reported during the period 2015-2017 to the Public Health Agency of Catalonia and the corresponding actions carried out in the vector activity period (VAP). Laboratory confirmation was carried out by PCR and/or serology (detection of viral RNA from captures by molecular technique). The proportion ratio was compared using Chi square, with a statistical significance of p = 0.05. Results: During the period of study, 947 suspected cases of arboviral disease were reported, 608 cases (64.2%) were confirmed and 68.3% (415) occurred in VAP; 65.8% (273) were in the viremic phase, during an average of 8 viremic days (DS 2.7). A total of 166 entomological surveys were carried out in households and their surroundings, in 43 of which female vector capture was obtained and analysed; one of these determinations of Dengue virus performed in 2015 was positive. Conclusions: Results obtained prove the importance of early reporting of suspected cases for the prevention and control to avoid the occurrence of indigenous cases from imported cases. It is necessary to maintain actions for health education of the population to avoid the growth of domestic breeding areas for the vector as well as awareness raising on the need to avoid mosquito bites.
