Abstract
This report focuses on specific diagnostic tests that healthcare personnel perform with a point-of-care testing (POCT) device, including electrochemical measurement up to the interpretation of the results in the following
biological magnitudes: glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, pH, oxygen saturation, carbon dioxide partial pressure and oxygen partial pressure. The overall objective is to evaluate the safety, clinical effectiveness and efficiency of
glucometers, gasometers and point measurement coagulometers. Specifically, it pursues two specific objectives: first, to identify the outcome variables
that are useful and relevant to decision making and, second, to evaluate and
analyze the available evidence and gaps in knowledge.
