Atenció podològica comunitària a persones amb diabetis: prestació complementària del Sistema Nacional de Salut de Catalunya
Abstract
In primary and community care (APIC) an annual check-up (diabetic foot screening) is performed on all people with diabetes mellitus (DM) (in the case of people with type 1 diabetes, from the age of 18 and with more than 10 years of evolution of DM).
This diabetic foot screening includes: 1) medical history, 2) skin and nail inspection, 3)
morphological and articular examination, 4) peripheral vascular disease examination, 5) neuropathic examination and 6) classification of the degree of risk with the periodicity of follow-up and the convenience of referral according to clinical criteria. Depending on the result of this screening, it is necessary to give the recommendations of health education and the actions that derive from it.
