dc.description.abstractThe aim was to describe the patients who required invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) and the times related to their attendance at the emergency department of a regional hospital. The patients who required orotracheal intubation and IMV were mostly men. The length of stay in the hospital pending transfer and transfer time was high. The majority of patients were transferred to the health region of reference.
