| dc.description.abstract | Sepsis is a potentially fatal condition triggered by the body's inadequate response to infection. It can progress to septic shock if the treatment is not adequate over time. A retrospective study was carried out on cases of serious infections, sepsis or septic shock that required admission to the monitoring area, with the objective of assessing the number of patients who have received antibiotics within one hour of entering the emergency department. Of our center during the year 2023. The results have shown that almost half of the patients received the first dose of antibiotic within the first hour. Septic patients who experienced instability in the emergency department had received more antibiotic doses in time compared to those who presented septic shock criteria upon admission. Mortality was significantly higher in the second group |
