Conseqüències dels esdeveniments adversos en els professionals
Abstract
When an adverse event (AE) occurs there is always a first, second and third victim. Professionals involved in EA are second victims, due to the emotional, psychological and physical effects that result. An observational, descriptive and transversal study was carried out to find out if the professionals of a Regional Hospital have been second victims during their professional career. Socio-demographic and occupational variables were collected from care professionals at the hospital who were administered an anonymous ad hoc questionnaire adapted from the questionnaire for hospital professionals of the Project: "Proyecto de Investigación Segundas Víctimas". A total of 199 responses were obtained, 6 out of 10 professionals had experienced adverse events with feelings of sadness, tiredness, anxiety, insomnia, reliving the event repeatedly, mood swings, constant doubts about what to do in each case, loss of reputation among colleagues, or questioning whether to continue with the profession or leave it. More than half were unaware of the existence of a care protocol for first, second and third victims at our institution
