Análisis del cumplimiento de las guías del código sepsis en un servicio de urgencias
Abstract
To assess adherence to recommended timeframes for the initial management of patients with severe infection, sepsis, or septic shock, a retrospective analysis was conducted using data from the emergency department's patient monitoring unit of Figueres Hospital. The study included patients diagnosed with severe infection, sepsis, or septic shock during 2023. The timing of antibiotic administration, lactate determination, blood culture determination, and fluid administration within the first hour were evaluated. The analyses showed that the highest adherence to the guidelines recommended targets was observed for blood culture collection, followed by lactate measurement. In contrast, timely administration of antibiotics and fluids was achieved in approximately half of the cases. These findings underscore the need to enhance adherence to sepsis protocol guidelines in clinical practice, with particular emphasis on promot antibiotic therapy and early fluid resuscitation within the first hour of patient care.
