El nou Decret sobre la regulació del sistema de notificació de les malalties de declaració obligatòria (MDO) i brots epidèmics de Catalunya
Abstract
Objectives. To spread among healthcare professionals involved in the catalan epidemiological surveillance network the reasons that have justified the elaboration of the new MDO decree as
well as its contents.
Methods: The article reviews the differences between the previous Decree (Decree 67/2010) and the new Decree (Decree 203/2015) and compares the changes that have occurred.
Results: The new Decree entails incorporating 18 new diseases to surveillance, strengthening the role of the Microbiological Notification System of Catalonia (SNMC) and giving priority to
electronic notification from health centers .
Conclusions: The expansion of the range of diseases subject to monitoring is a challenge for surveillance and will suppose an impact in terms of improvement for community health.
