Abstract
The herpes zoster infection is a neurocutaneous disease caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus. It is characterized by the appearance of a maculopapular exantema with vesicular lesions of unilateral distribution that follow the trajectory of a nerve, which approximately in the middle of the cases is thoracic. These skin manifestations are usually accompanied by pain in the affected area.
