A drug is considered biological when it contains one or more active ingredients synthesized or derived from a biological source. Its complexity is very variable and can go
from proteins already existing in the human body, such as insulin or growth hormone, to biotechnological drugs designed using molecular biology techniques with genetic manipulation (monoclonal antibodies, gene therapy, among others)
