Argumentari de l’indicador: tractament de l’osteoporosi en pacients ≥ 65 anys que han patit una fractura de maluc
Abstract
Indicator designed to ensure that a certain percentage of patients ≥ 65 years of age with admission for a hip fracture receive treatment for osteoporosis after discharge. Osteoporosis is a bone disease characterized by decreased resistance of the bone. It is due to a deficit in bone mineral density, an alteration in the microarchitecture of the bone, or both factors, and causes a greater fragility and a higher predisposition to suffer fractures. Hip fracture is a complication of osteoporosis that has a substantial impact on the patient's health and autonomy. Having a fracture is thought to double the risk of a second fracture, and when you have a hip fracture, the risk of a second fracture is tripled. It has been described that a hip fracture is associated with a mortality of 20% after one year, a permanent disability of 50% and that only 30% of patients recover completely.
