Nivel de alfabetización para la salud de las personas atendidas en un servicio de urgencias
Abstract
Health literacy involves the ability to access, understand, evaluate, and apply health information to make informed decisions and promote quality of life. To know the level of health literacy of people treated in an emergency department and its association with the demand for care in emergency services, a descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out with non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The variables were: sociodemographic and socioeconomic, health and health literacy. 99 people participated, with an average age of 58.10 years, similar between sexes. Almost six out of ten participants had a problematic level of health literacy. Age and educational level are associated with worse health literacy outcomes.
