Estadístiques del càncer a Catalunya en l’any 2024: estimacions de la incidència, mortalitat i supervivència del càncer a Catalunya
Abstract
This report presents statistical data on cancer incidence, mortality and survival in Catalonia during 2024. The incidence of cancer in all of Catalonia has been estimated based on the modeling of the temporal trend of specific incidence rates according to the five-year age group.
The assessment of the burden of cancer in a population is of interest for planning cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment services, as well as the allocation of resources. Changes in exposure to risk factors for developing cancer and protective factors are determinants of the future burden of cancer in a population. Likewise, changes in population demographics, such as population growth and possible changes in age distribution due to population aging, may lead to an increase in the absolute number of cancer cases, since age increases the risk of developing one.
