Estudi de contactes en una pacient amb tuberculosi pulmonar i bacil·loscòpia de les secrecions respiratòries negativa
Abstract
Objective. To describe the study of contacts in a patient with pulmonary TBC and negative
smears.
Methods. On the basis of a TB index case with smear-negative of respiratory secretions the
study of contacts was conducted according to the strategy of the concentric circles. The
tuberculin test was recommended and the prevalence of TB infection was calculated. Also
we described the detection of cases of disease and infection.
Results. The prevalence of infection was 36.6% (26/72): in the family 25% (2/8); in the office
60% (3/5) and a lounge of multiple uses 35.6% (21/59). In the second tuberculin skin the prevalence
was 11.8% (4/34). The global prevalence of infection was 41.7% (30/72). Also we
studied two children 16 months old that they would have presented an exposition to the index
case in the office for 1 to 2 hours a week and we detected a new case of tuberculosis.
Conclusions. The study reinforces the priority of the study of contacts among children under
five years of age. The smear is an indicator of possible transmission, but it does not have an
absolute value. It is also necessary to note the symptoms and lesions observed in other tests
