Annual report on the situation of food safety in Catalonia. This document contains the most relevant information and analysis of the situation in the field. The report must be approved by the Food Safety Commission Director. The analysis of the situation of food safety is carried out through indicators that provide insight into health risks through prevalence data and exposure to hazards; actual effects on human health through disease incidence data; and the degree of compliance with existing rules in areas such as safety, quality, animal welfare and other issues related to food safety. Furthermore, information is collected in order to estimate the situation regarding the perception of citizens and society as a whole. The information and conclusions collected in this document should be a reference for all those involved in food security in the context of co-operation oriented to the continuous improvement as well as an instrument of transparency used by authorities responsible with citizens.
