Planificació de serveis sociosanitaris: adequació del punt de tall de l’edat per a l’aplicació de criteris de planificació i avaluació
Abstract
The Catalan population has one of the highest life expectancy in the world, higher in women than in men. This favorable situation is due to a concentration of mortality in increasingly higher ages, as a consequence of a decrease in the likelihood of illness and an increase in the survival of many diseases. This situation has led to demographic changes, such as the increase in the number of elderly people, and epidemiological changes, such as the increase in people with comorbidity. From the Department of Health, together with the Catalan Health Service, there has been a need to revise the age cut-off point, as a key variable in which the planning criteria of healthcare and other possible services are based areas, in order to adapt them to the current and future needs of the population. The purpose of this document is to have a single stratification of ages that is firm and useful for more precise planning of health care resources, in order to adjust the socio-sanitary response to the needs of the population in the medium and long time limit.
