Psoriasis is an inflammatory, immunomediated and chronic skin disease that runs with referrals and relapses. It is characterized by the hyperproliferation of keratinocytes and T lymphocytes in the skin that overexpress proinflammatory mediators, resulting in thick, scaly skin lesions. The prevalence of psoriasis in Europe ranges from 0.6% to 8.5%. In Spain, it is estimated to be 2.3%. The most common form is plaque psoriasis, which affects 80-90% of patients. Among patients with plaque psoriasis, 80% have mild or moderate disease and 20% severe disease.
