Abstract
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative and progressive disorder that represents the second most frequent neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer's disease. Physiologically, it is characterized by the degeneration of susceptible neuronal groups, especially the dopamine producers of the black substance, along with the characteristic presence of Lewy bodies and neurites. These are intracellular inclusions formed mainly by insoluble aggregates of the alpha-synuclein protein abnormally folded with other proteins. Its identification in brain tissue is postmortem and is used in a confirmatory way (histopathological diagnosis):
